2. Do I need to register to use the tool?

No, registration is not required. You can use our notepad tool without signing up or logging in. Just open the website (notepad-online.org) and start writing.

3. Is this tool free?

Yes! All the basic and advanced features that our tool offers are completely free.

4. Can I use this tool offline?

The tool is primarily designed to work online through a web browser. However, if your browser supports local storage and the site is already loaded, you can use it offline until you close the tab or browser.

5. Can I share my notes?

Yes. Select the 'Share' option under the 'File' menu. It will ask to select among available sharing options like email, WhatsApp, etc. In addition, it generates a link to your note that you can copy and send via email, chat, or social media.


Features and Functionality

1. What can I do with this online notepad?

You can:

  • Write and edit plain text.
  • Save notes locally in a web browser.
  • Use the basic features like cut, copy, paste, select all, undo, and redo.
  • Check the spelling mistakes by enabling the 'Spell Check' feature.
  • Count the total number of words, characters, lines, and columns in the written text.
  • Export or save notes as .txt or .pdf.
  • Share notes via link or email.

2. Is there an autosave feature?

Yes, your notes will automatically save in your browser's local storage. That means if you accidentally close the tab or browser, your notes will be preserved the next time you visit. The data will be lost if you clear the browser's cache or history.

3. Can I manage multiple notes?

No, our online notepad can only manage a single note at a time.

4. How can I export my notes?

Simply press the 'Save' or 'Save As' button under the 'File' menu to export the notes in .txt format. Also, you can select the 'Print' option and save notes as .pdf format.

5. Can I print my notes?

Yes, you can print your notes directly from the browser by clicking the 'Print' option under the 'File' menu. You'll be able to preview the print layout before printing.


Privacy and Security

1. Is the written text stored on a web server?

No. Your privacy is our priority. No data is stored on a web server. Notes saved in your browser's local storage are only accessible by you on that device.

2. Can anyone else access my notes?

Not unless you share it via a link. If you share a note using a public link, anyone with the link will be able to view the note. Otherwise, it remains secure and accessible only to you.

3. Is there an option to password-protect a note?

No, the password protection feature is still not integrated into our tool.


Compatibility and Access

1. Which browsers are supported?

Firstly, you can use the share option to generate the link for your note and open that link on another device. Secondly, save the file in .txt format and then open it on another device to access your note.

4. Is there an app for Android or iOS?

Currently, we only offer a browser-based application. But we are exploring the development of dedicated mobile apps for iOS and Android in the future.


Troubleshooting

1. My notes disappeared. What happened?

If your notes were stored locally, they may have been deleted if you:

  • Cleared your browser cache or cookies.
  • Used a private/incognito window.
  • Switched devices or browsers.
  • Disable local storage from browser settings.

Save important notes on your local device to prevent this in the future.

2. The online notepad is not loading. What should I do?

Try the following:

  • Check your internet connection. Ensure it's enabled and working properly.
  • Refresh the page.
  • Clear your browser cache and open the tool.
  • Disable browser extensions that might interfere.
  • Try a different browser, such as Google Chrome.

3. I accidentally closed my browser. Are my notes lost?

If your browser supports local storage, your notes should still be there when you reopen the site. If not, they may be lost.


Customization

1. Can I change the theme or appearance?

Yes, our tool includes light and dark modes. You can switch it using the 'Preferences' option under the 'View' tab. Also, you can enable or disable the text lines for better writing.

2. Can I change the font or font size?

Yes, you can go to the 'Preferences' to change the font size, font family, and font weight (normal or bold).

3. What are the keyboard shortcuts?
